In recognition of International Menstrual Hygiene Day, the Muhydeen Okunlola Kayode (MOK) Foundation has announced the launch of the “Period Friendly World Project”.

This initiative aims to empower women and girls by providing education and resources on menstrual hygiene management.

Scheduled for Friday, May 24, 2024, the project will kick off at Community Secondary School, Etan, in Ekiti LG.

A statement from the foundation highlights the importance of menstrual hygiene training in Ekiti Kwara Local Government, Kwara State, Nigeria. The initiative seeks to educate and sensitize women and girls about menstrual hygiene management, offering vital information and effective solutions.

According to the statement, menstrual health hygiene is crucial for the well-being and empowerment of women and adolescent girls worldwide. With over 300 million women menstruating on any given day, access to water, sanitation, hygiene facilities, and affordable menstrual hygiene materials is essential.

The project aims to address these needs by providing practical training on making reusable pads, which can save women and girls thousands of Naira. By empowering women and girls with knowledge and resources, the initiative seeks to inspire positive change and eliminate stigma surrounding menstruation.
