FEDPOFFA, RMRDC set to Collaborate on Raw Materials Research and Development

As part of its efforts to promote technological manpower needed for sustainable national development, The Federal Polytechnic Offa is set to collaborate with the Raw Materials Research and Development Council (RMRDC) on Raw Materials Research and Development.

The Rector of the Polytechnic, Engr. Dr. Kadiri Kamoru Oluwatoyin FNSE made this known after a courtesy visit to RMRDC in Abuja on 21st May, 2024 where he presented a proposal for the collaboration on behalf of the Management.

According to Dr. Kadiri, “The visit is aimed to explore potential areas of collaborations between the Polytechnic and RMRDC in promoting research and development in raw materials for sustainable national development.”

During the meeting, the Rector and his team held discussions with the Acting Director-General of RMRDC, Engr. Emmanuel I kwaya, and other officials where areas of mutual interest, including research projects, capacity building, and technology transfer were identified as contained in the proposal forwarded to the Council.

To kick-start the collaboration, the Acting Director-General of RMRDC announced the constitution of a committee comprising representatives from both institutions. This committee will facilitate the implementation of joint projects and activities, fostering a strong partnership between the Polytechnic and RMRDC.

The Rector of the Federal Polytechnic Offa expressed gratitude for the warm reception and welcomed the opportunity to work together, saying, “Our institution is committed to promoting research and innovation in raw materials, and we believe that this collaboration will yield significant benefits for both parties.”

The Director-General of RMRDC emphasized the importance of collaboration in driving innovation and economic growth, stating, “We recognize the potential of partnering with institutions like the Federal Polytechnic Offa to advance raw materials research and development in Nigeria.”

This courtesy visit marks the beginning of a fruitful partnership between the Federal Polytechnic Offa and the Raw Materials Research and Development Council, poised to contribute significantly to Nigeria’s economic development through innovation and technological advancement in the raw materials sector.

The Raw Materials Research and Development Council is a federal government of Nigeria agency for research institutions that is responsible for industrial raw materials growth, promotion and utilization supervised by Federal Ministry of Sciences and Technology.

In attendance were: Registrar and Secretary to the Governing Council, Mr. G. O. Soko, Bursar, Mr. Azeez Amid, Director IJMB, Mr. Ogundele Femi and Protocol Officer, Mr. Adana Zulukarnaini.
