FEDPOFFA JCIN Embarks On ‘Pad a Girl Project’ Visits Sec. Schools In Offa
On May 28th, 2024, JCIN FEDPOFFA embarked on an impactful project, “Pad a Girl Child,” aimed at promoting menstrual hygiene and challenging societal norms and taboos surrounding menstruation. The project was conducted in two schools, Ansarul Islam Senior Secondary School Offa and St. Clare’s Anglican Girls’ Grammar School Offa.
The project began with an educational session at Ansarul Islam Senior Secondary School Offa, where girls were taught about “Breaking the Stigma: Challenging Societal Norms and Taboos Surrounding Menstruation” under the global theme “Together for a #PeriodFriendlyWorld.” The session was led by guest speaker Mrs. Oyebanji Olubukola, General Hospital Offa NHIA Desk Officer, who addressed the girls’ questions and concerns about menstrual challenges.
The management staff of Ansarul Islam Senior Secondary School Offa expressed their sincere appreciation to JCIN FEDPOFFA for bringing this program to their female students, acknowledging the positive impact on their menstrual hygiene awareness.
The project team then proceeded to St. Clare’s Anglican Girls’ Grammar School Offa, where the students showed exceptional participation and active engagement during the program. The girls listened attentively, asked questions, and made valuable contributions to the discussion.
At the end of the training, the girls were able to identify and share what they had learned during the program. The project team distributed a total of 550 pads to the girls in both schools, promoting menstrual hygiene and dignity.
The success of the Pad a Girl Child Project was made possible through the collective effort of the JCIN FEDPOFFA, donors, and supporters who contributed through donations, promotion, and other forms of support. The project’s impact is a testament to the power of collaboration and community engagement in empowering young girls and promoting menstrual hygiene awareness.
