Alhaji Bisi Afolabi: A Leader With a Heart of Gold

As I reflect on my recent trip to Lagos, I’m reminded of a profound quote by Oscar Wills, an Irish poet and playwright, who once said, “Doing good is in the blood of the doers, not the talkers…” This quote perfectly encapsulates my assessment of Alhaji Bisi Afọlábí during my last month encountered with him. I had the opportunity to connect with several fellow Offa compatriots, and it was truly heartwarming to spend time with Alhaji Bisiriyu Afolabi. His remarkable leadership skills and unwavering optimism made a deep and lasting impression on me.

Actually, I was in Lagos to take part in a program that centred on the legendary figure Morèmi, a significant figure from Offa. I was one of the Offa representatives who was supported by ODU to attend the programme. I had the honour of presenting Offa’s perspective on Morèmi, supported by historical evidence. Alhaji Afolabi’s warmth and generosity were truly heartwarming, and it was evident that his positive attitude towards others transcends all boundaries.

I learned that during his time as the ODU Chairman in Lagos, Baba Afolabi awakened many members from their slumber and raised their level of consciousness for our fatherland. He proved himself to be a natural administrator.

I am also aware of his efforts as the chairman of the ODU diaspora committee, where he has been diligently spending his resources to reconnect many distant Offa kiths and kins back to their roots in Offa. Baba Afolabi’s ability to bring people together and foster a sense of community was evident in the way he connected with individuals from diverse backgrounds. His inclusive approach and willingness to listen to others’ perspectives created a sense of belonging, making everyone feel valued and respected. One of the most impressive aspects of Baba Afolabi’s leadership was his ability to multitask and manage multiple responsibilities simultaneously.

Despite his busy schedule, he remained focused and composed, ensuring that every detail was taken care of. His exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail were evident in the seamless execution of events and activities.

Baba Afolabi’s passion for leadership and his desire to make a positive impact was evident in every conversation. He is a visionary who is not afraid to think outside the box and challenge the status quo. His innovative ideas and solutions to complex problems were truly impressive, demonstrating a deep understanding of the issues that matter most.

The most striking thing about Baba was his humility and openness to learning from others. Despite his many accomplishments, he remains grounded and receptive to new ideas and perspectives. This quality is a hallmark of a true leader, and I do not doubt that Baba will continue to inspire and motivate others to achieve their full potential.

In a nutshell, my interactions with Baba Afolabi were genuinely exceptional. His leadership skills, hospitality, and passion for making a positive impact are qualities that make him an outstanding individual. I am confident that he will excel in any leadership position and make a significant difference in the lives of people. Alhaji Bisiriyu Afolabi is a leader with a heart of gold!
