Accolades As IDU Abuja Commences Ijagbo Hospital Perimeter Fencing

•Onijagbo lays Foundation, Commends IDU Abuja, Others

•IDU National President Elated, Urges Kwara Government to Reward Efforts of Ijagbo Community

• Abuja Branch is poised to embark on other Projects – Chairman

There was outpouring of commendations on Friday June 21, 2024 at the foundation laying ceremony of the perimeter fencing of the Comprehensive Health Centre Ijagbo construction of which is being facilitated by the Abuja Branch of the Ijagbo Descendants Union, Abuja Branch. The foundation laying ceremony was done by the Onijagbo of Ijagbo, His Royal Highness Oba Sharafadeen Adeniyi Buhari Babalola Ilufemiloye assisted High Chiefs, other dignitaries and members of the Executive Committee of IDU National and Abuja Branch.

In his remarks, Onijagbo commended Abuja Chapter for constructing the perimeter fencing of the health facility which he described as a remarkable development worthy of emulation by other branches, public spirited individuals and all sons and daughters of Ijagbo town. Kabiyesi noted that Abuja branch, since inauguration barely a year ago has been a game changer in providing direction for a meaningful delivery of service to Ijagbo people. “Abuja branch, within its short time of existence has been a leading light in community development efforts. The branch has been so cohesive, purposeful and result oriented, for the benefit of Ijagbo. The determination to serve is evident in its regular meetings, large turnout of members at every meeting, financial contributions, regular dialogue on the progress of our town and the evident sacrifices of leadership and members”. He noted.
Onijagbo expresses the readiness to continue to work for the peace and development of Ijagbo and to continue to mobilize for the progress of the town. He commended other branches and individuals who have been working for Ijagbo including the recent contributions for the energizing of some transformers in the town, renovation of health center, donation of medical equipment etc.
The National President of IDU and Asiwaju of Ijagbo land, Chief Tunde Agboola Oyawoye in his address read by the National Secretary, Mr Emmanuel Bayo Fatola also commended IDU Abuja for the effort.

“I am particularly excited by the efforts of a new branch of Ijagbo Descendants Union, Abuja, which is embarking on this laudable project within a very short time of its inception. It is a source of encouragement and challenge to all sons and daughters of Ijagbo. I give all Glory and honor to God Almighty that Ijagbo Descendants Union is increasingly on sound pedestal of becoming a formidable Union that has been our aspiration over the years and the vision of the founding fathers.
“On behalf of the National Executive Committee and entire membership of IDU, I congratulate the Abuja branch for this noble gesture We commend this as a desirable follow up on the intervention of the USA/Canada branch in the provision of medical equipment and furniture for the Centre. Also, we appreciate the branches for keying into the new approach to engender a more rapid development in our community. The periodic fund raising and general appeals for funding are serving limited purpose. The new strategy is to identify pressing needs in the community and seek sponsorship and contributions to those specific projects.
Chief Oyawoye also acknowledged the multidimensional approach to community development in the town including contributions of other branches, volunteer groups, Egbe Atunluse and others.
“We need a more concerted effort to develop our community as we can no longer wait on the government to meet the welfare needs of our fast-growing population. In fact, the foundation laying today has far reaching ramifications, representing a community -state government partnership in the provision of health care facilities. It will be recalled that the Comprehensive Health Centre was recently renovated by the Kwara State Government, and the perimeter fencing is an essential component of the renovation to realize the full potential of the Government investment int facility. I therefore appeal to the Kwara State Government to recognize and reward the partnering efforts of the community and upgrade the Center by providing appropriate medical personnel and equipment. The community is in dire need of a better equipped health care facility.

He saluted the passion and numerous initiatives for the development of the community by Onijagbo of Ijagbo and promised the cooperation of the union with Kabiyesi to move Ijagbo forward. He promised the readiness of IDU to refund the recent personal expenses of Kabiyesi to ensure that people of Ijagbo enjoy water as well as expenses on other important issues.

In his remarks, the Chairman, Abuja Branch Dr. Gafar Alawode expressed the readiness of the Branch to continue to embark on projects as identified by Kabiyesi and the IDU National.
He noted the resourcefulness, commitment of Oba Sharafadeen Buhari to the development of Ijagbo town.
“For, Kabiyesi, he will want Ijagbo to become like Dubai in the next few years. We commend the passion and uncommon commitment of our Oba to the development of our town. We also note and commend the unprecedented efforts of Kabiyesi at sustaining peace and communal friendship and brotherliness in Ijagbo town. We also note and commend the untiring efforts of Kabiyesi at galvanizing Ijagbo sons and daughters to contribute meaningfully to the progress and development of our dear community. I wish to assure Kabiyesi of the continued commitment of IDU Abuja branch to Ijagbo development, we will always work with Kabiyesi and IDU National to ensure that our town reaches the desired height of socio-economic development that we all desire’ He said.
