Your potential is boundless, I can’t take you for granted-Rector Tells Alumni Association
The Alumni Association of the Federal Polytechnic Offa Kwara State has held her Annual General Meeting on Saturday 12th October 2024 at the Polytechnic Main Campus.
The meeting which brought the members of the Alumni Association together provided a forum for interaction and discussion on the prospect, challenges, progress and transformation of the association and the Polytechnic at large.
While giving the annual report, the National President and member of the Governing Council representing Alumni, Comrade Rahman Ayuba commended the Board of Trustees of the association led by Engr. Kola Lamidi, the executives and members of the association for their cooperation and support. He noted the remarkable achievements of the association and acknowledged the collective efforts of all members.
Reflecting on the beginning of the administration, Comrade Ayuba referenced the 3-year strategic plan which he refers to as a template and guide for the activities and programmes of the association. He stated further that the 3-year plan has been able to assist the association to record numerous achievements in the area of mentorship program for students, workshop and training for staff, endowment support to the Polytechnic, redesigning of association’s website for positive image, welfare, among others.
He therefore solicited for continuous support from all members for the advancement of the association to the greater heights.
As a sign of last respect, the Alumni President and other members observed a minute silence and prayer for one of the active and vibrant member, Comrade Moshood Igbin who died recently after a short illness.
Earlier, the Rector, Engr. Dr. Kadiri Kamoru Oluwatoyin FNSE expressed gratitude to the Alumni Association for supporting his administration since assumption of office.
Dr. Kadiri noted that the potential of the Alumni is boundless and implored the members to be more active for the progress of its activities.
“I express my profound gratitude for your steadfast support since I assumed the role as the 5th substantive Rector of this great Polytechnic.
“The potential of the larger Alumni is boundless, and I can’t take you for granted. I implore you all to see today as a stepping stone to be more active in the association and bring goodwill to bear in its activities. The management will work closely with our Alumni because most of what we want to do will be dependent on our cordial relationship with our products out there doing great things.” The Rector said.
The event also witnessed the inauguration of the electoral committee to conduct the next election of the association, as unanimously agreed by the congress, the newly inaugurated electoral committee conducted by-election to fill vacant position of the Vice President of the association judiciously.
