22ND NIPOGA: FEDPOFFA Management Welcomes Caretaker Committee, Heads of Sports, Coaches

FEDPOFFA is ready; it will be the best NIPOGA ever – Rector Tells Committee

In preparation for the 22nd edition of Nigerian Polytechnic Games (NIPOGA), the Management of the Federal Polytechnic Offa has received the Caretaker Committee and Heads of Sports, Coaches for meeting, election of officers and inspection of facilities.

The Committee, Heads of Sports/Coaches from different Polytechnics across Nigeria were received by the Rector, Principal Officers and Members of the Local Organising Committee of NIPOGA on Monday 28 October 2024 at the Polytechnic Main Campus.

In his opening address, the Rector, Engr. Dr. Kadiri Kamoru Oluwatoyin FNSE on behalf of the Governing Council thanked the Chairman and members of COHEADS for their guidance, excellent leadership, cooperation and outstanding role enjoyed since the constitution of the Caretaker Committee.

Speaking further, the Rector, who doubles as the President of Caretaker Committee, noted that the Polytechnic is ready to host the country for the forthcoming NIPOGA as accommodations, sporting facilities are undergoing massive renovations and reconstruction to international standards.

The Rector as part of the preparation put in place handed over a branded sienna space bus to the head coach and technical director of NIPOGA at the Federal Polytechnic Offa for easy mobility of the technical crew.

He therefore commended the tremendous efforts of the Local Organising Committee led by the Deputy Rector Administration, Dr. Salimon Ishaq Rasheed and other members for spearheading the preparation to achieve a seamless NIPOGA.

According to him, “…it is difficult to think of the future of sports in Nigeria without the active participation of qualified coaches in such a way that their dignity and integrity are acknowledged and guaranteed through access to standard amenities and state-of-the-art sports facilities. In this connection, I can say without doubt that our hostel accommodation and sporting facilities are currently undergoing massive renovations and reconstruction to international standards to ensure the comfort of individual athletes and officials.”

Speaking on security, the Rector assures the Committee of a peaceful atmosphere in Offa community, adding that the Polytechnic has secured a deal with all security agencies in the state to ensure safety.

The Committee during the facility inspection congratulated the Polytechnic for securing the hosting right and commended the Polytechnic for the efforts put in place in preparation for the games. The committee also pledged maximum support to achieve a successful event and admonished the management to intensify efforts on other facilities under renovation.
