Summit University VC, Prof. Aibinu Lauds Lenspoly Offa As MassCom Dept. Holds Seminar On Artificial Intelligence
In efforts to equip students with required knowledge and usefulness of Artificial Intelligence in the field of journalism, the Department of Mass Communication, Lens Polytechnic Offa has held a seminar titled exploring the role of AI in the new media, benefits, and challenges.
The seminar handled by the Vice Chancellor of Summit University, Professor Musa Abiodun Aibinu featured the Proprietor, Dr. Azeez Yisa FCA, Director of Strategic Planning, Mr. Fatai Azeez, staff members and students.
Speaking on the theme, Professor Musa Aibinu noted that Artificial Intelligence has revolutionised all fields of human endeavours including mass communication.
He asserted that Artificial Intelligence has enhanced news framing, news writing, editing, news production and multimedia contents.
He therefore advised students to acquire AI knowledge, tools and skills, with the natural intelligence to solve problems.
Speaking further, the Professor highlighted skills required of journalism students to use Artificial Intelligence effectively. He noted that students using Artificial Intelligence must be creative, possess critical thinking skill, emotional quotient, judgement and decision-making skill, leadership skill, interpersonal communication skill and always ready to embrace change.
He lauded the Polytechnic for organising the seminar with relevant theme for the students and commended the HND ll mass communication students for making the event a success.
Earlier in his opening remark, the Proprietor, Dr. Yisa Azeez appreciated the Vice Chancellor for gracing the event. The Proprietor affirmed the importance of Artificial Intelligence in Mass Communication, he said the Polytechnic always follow the evolving trends to equip the students with relevant knowledge and practical experience needed in the labour market as Polytechnic graduates.
Also speaking, Mr. Abdulhakeem Olarinoye applauded the guest speaker for excellent delivery. He commended the management of the Polytechnic for providing enabling environment for academic activities to thrive.
While soliciting for continuous support from the management, he charged the students to be naturally intelligent in order to use Artificial Intelligence effectively.
In her vote of thanks, the Head of Department of Mass Communication, Mrs. Kehinde Adeniran lauded the management for supporting Masa Communication Department intermittently. She thanked the guest speaker for a robust tutelage on the role of artificial intelligence in the field of journalism.
