Lens Symbolises Ability To See Beyond Horizon, You Are In The Best Private Polytechnic- Dr. Azeez Yisa Tells New Students

The Proprietor of Lens Polytechnic, Offa, Dr. Azeez Yisa FCA has re-affirmed the standard level of the institution as the best private Polytechnic in Nigeria with fully accredited courses, quality education, skills, talents discovery and conducive atmosphere for teaching and learning.

The Proprietor disclosed this during orientation programme organised for the newly admitted students at the Polytechnic Permanent Site.

While welcoming the new students, Dr. Azeez proudly declared Lens Polytechnic as the best private polytechnic in Nigeria, attributing its success to its unique policies and strategies. He advised the students to develop the necessary skills, adding that organizations now take skills very important over degrees.

The proprietor centered his speech around the name ‘Lens Polytechnic.’ He explained that “Lens” symbolises the ability to see beyond the horizon, ability to see beyond the peak of one’s career. It represents the power of visualization, which enables individual to see what others cannot see.

Dr.Azeez Yisa emphasized that vision drives individual to achieve the impossible. He encouraged the students to think, visualize, and think of their goals, explaining that these are the keys to achieving success.

He continued by highlighting the tragedy of unfulfilled dreams, quoting, “The tragedy of life is not that we die, but what dies inside us while we live.”

Speaking on the importance of dreaming higher, he stated that students must have vision for their future right from the onset.

According to him,” I want to admonish you to dream higher and have vision for your future, to achieve these dreams, you must put on your “spectacular glasses, your lens to see beyond the horizon and to see beyond your peers.

Speaking on the importance of knowledge acquisition, he urged students to take their studies seriously, noting that students who graduate with distinction or upper credit have a higher chance of securing good jobs.

The proprietor also discussed the implications of graduating with lower credit, stressing that such students have a 50/50 chance of securing a good job. He encouraged students to strive for knowledge and cultivate a good attitude, emphasizing that ethics play a crucial role in determining one’s success in life as it is in the institution’s slogan which is skills, knowledge, and ethics.

He therefore acknowledged the role of the polytechnic’s lecturers in providing students with the necessary tools to excel and be different among their peers in other institutions.

Also speaking, the Registrar of the Polytechnic, Mr. Hammed Sarafa Olalekan congratulated the students for gaining admission into the Polytechnic.

The registrar emphasized the importance of registration as a factor that makes new intakes a bona fide students of the Polytechnic.

He said to complete registrations, students must submit required documents and pay their school fees.

Analysing the procedure, the registrar said, “upon payment, students will receive a receipt with a One-Time Password (OTP), which is personal and non-transferable.

“Students must then present the receipt and OTP at the Resource Center to collect four files, These files must be signed by the student, Dean of Students’ Affairs, and Academic Affairs representative, and also submitted to the Dean of Students’ Affairs, Dean of Academic Affairs, Head of Department, and Registrar.”

He therefore urged students to hasten their registration and become bona fide students of Lens Polytechnic.

Speaking on the institution’s rules and regulations, the Dean of Students’ Affairs, Mrs Mujeedat Bammeke Oladipo charged students to shun immoral dressing, hooliganism, thuggery, cultism, and other social vices capable of truncating their studentship on campus. Mrs. Mujeedat noted that the Polytechnic frowns at multiple color braids hairstyles by female students, tinting of hair by male students, piercing of the nose and wearing ear rings by male students, dread hairstyles, crazy jeans among others.

While advising the students to report any issues or grievances to the office of DSA rather than taking laws into their hands, she admonished the students to be law-abiding and be good ambassadors of the Polytechnic.

Corroborating the DSA, the Chief Compliance Officer of the Polytechnic, Mr. Nasif Agbolahan said success is guaranteed for those who follow the institution’s guidelines.

He discussed the importance of wearing identification cards on campus and outside the campus to ensure easy identification and to avoid harassment from any individual outside campus.

The Compliance Officer reiterated that the institution maintains zero-tolerance policy for fighting, both on and off campus. He said students found violating the rule will face expulsion, he explained further by pointing out the importance of maintaining a peaceful and respectful environment.

Mr. Nasif Agbolahan also made mention on the significance of departmental wear, which is compulsory on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays.

“Students are required to wear their uniforms and identification cards; failure to do so will result in being sent out from the lecture hall,” he said.

He therefore encouraged students to demonstrate respect and courtesy towards lecturers and their colleagues, he charged the students to obey and abide by the institution’s rules and protocols.

“By doing so, students will benefit from the institution’s supportive environment and achieve their academic goals,” he concluded.
