AGAIN: NUJ set to hold NCWC meeting in Kebbi – Salientreporters

The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) is set to hold the inaugural meeting of its National Central Working Committee (NCWC) following the election of its current National President, Comrade Alhassan Yahaya Abdullahi.

The meeting, which marks a significant event for the union, will take place in Kebbi State. It is the first official gathering since Comrade Abdullahi assumed office on November 27, 2024.

A statement released by the Kebbi State Council of NUJ, signed by Chairman Comrade Bello Sarki Abubakar and Secretary Comrade Ismail Adebayo, confirmed the details of the meeting.

According to the statement, the event will be hosted in Birnin Kebbi from February 11 to 13, 2025. The Kebbi State Government, under the leadership of Governor Nasir Idris Kauran Gwandu, will play a key role in hosting the participants.

The meeting will bring together NUJ representatives from across Nigeria. It will be led by Comrade Alhassan Abdullahi, who will oversee discussions on key matters affecting journalism in the country.

This gathering is expected to address pressing issues within the media sector while strengthening unity among journalists.

During their stay in Kebbi, the NUJ president and his team will also embark on an inspection tour. They will assess various developmental projects executed by Governor Nasir Idris’s administration. This visit will offer firsthand insight into the progress made by the state government in infrastructure and other sectors.

The NUJ’s NCWC meeting is expected to be an event to advance Journalism and governance collaboration.

It will provide a platform for dialogue on the role of the media in national development.
