FEDPOFFA Rice, Honey In Progress As Agricultural Technology Dept. Presents Report To The Rector

We are moving from consumption to production- Dr. Kadiri Affirms

As part of its drive to transform the institution from consumption to production, the Management of the Federal Polytechnic Offa under the leadership of the Rector, Engr. Dr. Kadiri Kamoru Oluwatoyin FNSE is ready to provide necessary support to the Department of Agricultural Technology to venture into mechanised farming for commercialization.

The Rector made this known after receiving the progress report on rice cultivation and bees rearing from the Head of Department of Agricultural Technology, Mrs. Olabanji Funmilayo Abiodun.

The Rector said the management is deploying all channels within its reach to boost the Internally Generated Revenue of the Polytechnic and enhance its productivity in all ramifications.

In her report to the Rector, the Head of Department of Agricultural Technology noted that the Department is ready to venture into more production with the aim of branding her produce. She added that the institution has adequate land that is rich for rice production.

Speaking on FEDPOFFA honey, the HoD stated that six honey beehives constructed have been colonized by bees and will soon ripe for harvest.

On research, Mrs. Olabanji said the department carried out research on broiler meat floss incorporated into bread production, which was successful. She added that the Polytechnic can be the first institution to produce bread incorporated with broiler meat floss.

While urging the management to take proactive action on ranchers hindering the progress of farm cultivation, She commended the management for providing opportunity and a conducive atmosphere for the relative growth and development of the department.
