Rector, Engr. Dr. Kadiri Commends TETFund for Prompt Delivery of Heavy-Duty Equipment
Efforts to turn dormant arable lands in the Polytechnic community into farmlands have received a significant boost on Monday, February 24, 2025 as the Rector, Engr. Dr. Kadiri Kamoru Oluwatoyin, FNSE, in the company of the Acting Director of Works and Services, Engr. Lateef Bello successfully took delivery of a tractor and other allied accessories donated by the Tertiary Education Trust Fund, under the 2024 TETFund Zonal intervention projects T/FY 306 A.
The Rector in his reaction expressed gratitude to TETFund for its various interventions in the Polytechnic, saying with its collaborative approach, the Polytechnic management has witnessed unparalleled development in terms of provision of befitting infrastructure, equipment supplies and all-round extensive transformation. He further emphasized that his administration is committed to move beyond traditional farming tools like hoes and cutlasses to incorporate technological solutions in order to encourage students involvement in agricultural practices.
The equipment presented at the official handing over by the contractor includes, Massey Ferguson Tractor (MF 375, 75HP), Harrow 16 Disc mounted, 3 Disc plough, Slasher, 50-75HP, 4 Disc Ridger, and Farmland furrow.
In his reaction, the Acting Director of works, Engr. Lateef Bello commended TETFund for its proactive efforts in procuring these essential farming equipment and their steadfast support in making the project a reality, pointing out that the heavy-duty equipment supply is meticulously designed to effortlessly clear thick vegetations, including overgrown grass, weeds, bushes, tilling of land and mowing of the lawn to enhance the overall appearance and ensure a tidy/ well-maintained environment. According to him, the Polytechnic also has the mandate to use the farm implement as a training equipment that will provide students in the department of Agricultural technology with the chance to gain hands-on experience in Agricultural mechanization.”
On his part, the contractor, Rear Breeds Global Services Ltd, Mr. Bashir Kehinde Shittu while fielding questions from the Public Relations unit, gave the assurance that the tractor is cost-effective and will perform to its optimum, saying it has been pre-checked before delivery. Speaking further, he said the features of the tractor are industry leading with maximum operator safety, adding that the slashing blade attached to the tractor has a heavy-duty gearbox that is powerful enough to cutting through the massive uncultivated lands within the Polytechnic community. In an apparent show of gratitude on behalf of the Rear breed team, Mr. Bashir praised the Polytechnic management for facilitating the intervention and for the support he enjoyed during the period of procurement, stressing that Rear breed services Ltd will always be on ground to provide expert guidance when the need arises. He therefore called for proper maintenance and judicious use of the tractor and other allied accessories to ensure the durability in the best way possible.
