Hon. Seun Oguniyi Visits Asa LG For Unveiling Ceremony As Kwara Govt. Renovates, Equips General Hospital Afon

On Monday 17th March 2025, Ogbeni Seun Ogunniyi, in his capacity as the newly appointed Chairman House Committee on Health of the Kwara State House of Assembly, graced the unveiling ceremony of the recently renovated and equipped General Hospital Afon in Asa Local Government by His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Kwara State, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRasaq CON.

Last week, the standing committees of the Kwara State House of Assembly were reconstituted, and Ogbeni Seun Ogunniyi was appointed as the Chairman House Committee on Health. The unveiling ceremony of Afon General Hospital was his first official assignment as the Chairman of the House Committee on Health. Ogbeni Ogunniyi commended the administration of Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq CON for prioritising the health sector and for initiating programs and plans that are meaningfully impacting the well-being and prosperity of all parts of Kwara. He gave kudos to the Ministry of Health under the able and dynamic leadership of the Dr. Amina El-Imam.

The investment in the renovation and equipping of the General Hospital Afon is indeed the right decision that should deliver the right outcomes for the people of Afon and its adjoining rural communities. The newly renovated hospital is expected to guarantee access to critical health care services for the people of the area. Ogbeni Ogunniyi urged the staff of the hospital to always demonstrate a sense of ownership and imbibe the culture of good care and maintenance for the health facility. He equally encouraged the people of Afon community and environ to make good use of the facility and desist from the practice and attitude of patronising quacks and unapproved centres for their medical needs.

Dignitaries in attendance at the unveiling ceremony include: Hon Yunus Oniboki (Afon Constituency); Hon Rukayat Shittu (Owode/ Onire Constituency); Dr. Amina El-Imam (Commissioner for Health); Alhaji Yahaya Shehu (Executive Chairman, Asa Local Government), Dr. Malik Abdulraheem (Executive Secretary, Hospital Management Board), Alhaji Abdullateef Gidado Alakawa (Chairman, Lower Niger River Basin Development Authority); Permanent Secretary and Directors from the Ministry of Health; Members of Asa Local Government Legislative Council; Representatives of the traditional institution; Community and Party Leaders from Asa Local Government.
