KWHA: Reconstituted House Committee On Health And Nutrition Meets Stakeholders In Health Sector For Enhanced Collaboration
The newly reconstituted Kwara State House of Assembly Committee on Health and Nutrition, on Wednesday, 2nd April 2025, hosted the Honourable Commissioner, Kwara State Ministry of Health, along with heads of Departments and Agencies on a familiarization meeting at the Assembly Complex.
The delegation was led by the Honourable Commissioner for Health, Dr. Amina El-Imam with other stakeholders, including Prof. Nusirat Elelu, the Executive Secretary, Kwara State Primary Health Care Development Agency (KWSPHCDA); Dr. Olubunmi Jetawo-Winter, Executive Secretary, Kwara Health Insurance Agency (KWHIA); Dr. Abdulraheem Malik, the Executive Secretary of Hospital Management Board (HMB), the Chief Medical Director of Kwara State University Teaching Hospital (KWASUTH); Dr. Ahmed Bola and other directors and senior leadership of the state health sector. The Clerk to Kwara State House of Assembly Alhaji Olayiwola Ahmed and his Deputy, Mall. Mosadi Kareem, were also in attendance.
Expectedly, the meeting was held in a warm, cordial, and productive atmosphere during which both parties rubbed minds on developmental issues that are of critical concern to the provision of medical and health care services to Kwarans.The Committee Chairman, Ogbeni David Sheun Ogunniyi, emphasized that the legislative agenda of the 10th Assembly was to support the vision of the Executive Governor of Kwara State, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, CON, who undoubtedly has made giant strides in revamping the State Health Sector. The new leadership of the Committee on Health and Nutrition stated that it was focused and committed to ensuring that the State’s impressive outcome and deliverables continue to reflect every quantum of investment and support that the sector has received under the administration of Mallam Abdulrahaman Abdulrasaq, CON so that Kwarans and residents alike would continue to enjoy the benefits of quality healthcare as envisioned by the Governor.
The membership of the reconstituted House Committee on Health and Nutrition includes the following:
1. Ogbeni Ogunniyi David Sheun – Committee Chairman;
2. Hon. Lawal Arinola Fatimoh – Deputy Chairman;
3. Hon. Mohammed Baba Salihu – Member;
4. Hon Rukayat Motunrayo Shittu – Member;
5. Hon Yusuf Atoyebi Musa – Member;
6. Mrs. Gambari A.M. – Committee Clerk; and
7. Alabi Muhammed – Asst. Committee Clerk
On a final note, the Committee reassured the delegation from the Ministry of Health and its agencies of the readiness of the House to continue fostering harmonious working relationships with them and the unwavering commitment to the attainment of their respective institutional mandates.
