NIPOGA: FEDPOFFA Rector, Nigeria Breweries Inspects Stadium Complex, Ongoing Road Repairs Ahead of Preliminary Games, Official Opening

… NB plc sets in efforts to build Maltina games village at the mini campus sports complex

Rector, Dr. Kadiri promises sustainability, maintenance of facilities

As the 22nd Edition of Nigeria Polytechnic Games (NIPOGA) gets underway, the Rector of the Federal Polytechnic Offa, Engr. Dr. Kadiri Kamoru Oluwatoyin, FNSE, in the company of the Deputy Rector (Academics) Dr. Mrs. Mulikat Bola Aliyu, and other senior officers of the Polytechnic, led a delegation of the Nigeria Breweries Plc, one of the corporate partners of NIPOGA 2024, on a long trek to inspect the quality of work done at the Oyetola Olatona Stadium Complex, mini campus. Town Criers Ltd, a Foremost brand activation and Experiential marketing Agency (a brand promotion vendor for Nigerian Breweries) were also present during the inspection tour.

Conducting an on-the-spot assessment of the facilities, among the projects inspected were the Main football pitch being re-grassed, Track & Field for all Athletic events, Basketball, Lawn Tennis, and Volleyball courts.

Also inspected on the same day was the ongoing rehabilitation of the internal road network, Stella Obasanjo auditorium and hostel accommodations that will house the 5000 students Athletes and officials in readiness for the games.

Speaking, while on an impromptu inspection of the projects, the Rector, Engr. Dr. Kadiri, said the purpose of the inspection is to ensure that all ‘I’s are dotted and all ‘T’s are crossed as the countdown begins. He expressed satisfaction with the work being done and reiterated the institution’s commitment to hosting the rest of the nation, saying vast sums of money have been invested in building the sports facilities.”We are very happy with what we are seeing today, and the Polytechnic management are committed to developing and maintaining our sports facilities,” he added.

Speaking with the Public Relations Unit, the MD/CEO, Gbada Civil Engineering Nig. Ltd, Alhaji Muideen Alalade, who was surprised at the sudden appearance of the Rector explained the stages of the work done so far assuring that before the preliminary games on Thursday, April 3, 2025, the work would have reached appreciable level. “We are working according to timelines for the implementation, and we have assured the Rector that the project which is 99% completed will be delivered on schedule,” Alhaji Muideen explained to the Public Relations Unit.

Fielding questions from our correspondent, the Project supervisor, Town Criers Nig. Ltd, Niyi Daramola said the advertising agency is a vendor, running an in-bar promotion for Nigerian Breweries. He said the promotion agency would set up a beer village at the stadium complex where athletes and officials would enjoy Maltina and Zagg Energy (Malt-infused energy drink) amid fanfare.

Speaking in the same vein, the sales Executive, Nigerian Breweries disclosed that Maltina would light up NIPOGA with exciting communication materials. “We plan indoor games and talent campaigns where Athletes and other participants are handed a raffle draw tickets and taken through Questions and Answers to win gifts and prizes during the tournament. Speaking further, he said “as the game progresses, we will excite the participants more and make them happy,” he added

The Public Relations Unit has been authoritatively informed that the Nigerian Breweries Plc, through its vendor, Town Criers Nig. Ltd will be putting together a Nigerian Breweries Maltina village at the Oyetola Olatona Stadium Complex to fete participants from Friday, April 5, 2025, climaxing until the end of the competition.

At the time of filling this report, preparation to set up the games village is in top gear as representatives from Nigerian Breweries and Town criers Advertising are fully on ground to do a little “recce” of the sports complex before picking a spot to mount the Maltina Games Village. According to the Project supervisor, Town Criers, Mr. Niyi Daramola, “This is the first time an initiative such as this is happening in the history of NIPOGA, and what Maltina is doing is to raise the bar by constructing an outlet where fans and athletes are treated to performances from local music talents during the competition, saying the Nigerian Breweries will be a dominant attraction at the event with its array of products providing enjoyment for the participants and making the “Ijakadi 2024” a memorable occasion that will feature 9 days of fun, raffle draw as several gift items will also be up for grabs.
