Former First Lady of Nigeria, Dame Patience Jonathan, has been conferred with an honorary doctorate degree in Psychology, Guidance and Counselling by the Ignatius Ajuru University of Education, Port Harcourt.
The award was presented during the university’s 43rd Convocation Ceremony, which attracted several dignitaries, university officials, and well-wishers.
The ceremony also featured celebrations by women’s groups in honour of the former First Lady. One such group, Rivers Women Unite for SIM, led by Sotonye Toby Fult, was seen dancing with Mrs. Jonathan during the event.
A video from the occasion, now circulating widely on social media, shows the former First Lady dancing with the group as they sang a popular song in her praise, “Na our mama be this ooo…”
Dame Patience Jonathan served as Nigeria’s First Lady from 2010 to 2015 during the presidency of her husband, Goodluck Jonathan.
She also held the position of Permanent Secretary in Bayelsa State during her career in the civil service.
