Offa Tech Community Unveils August Summit, Hackathon to Train Next-Gen Innovators

The Offa Technology Community (OTC) has announced dates for its much-anticipated technology summit.

The community said the summit is aimed at igniting innovation and digital literacy in Offa and surrounding communities.

According to Bolajoko Habeeb, Chairman of the Organizing Committee, the main summit will hold on August 22 and 23 at ONE Innovation Hub (ONEIH) and Summit University, Offa, Kwara State.

According to him, a pre-summit training and hackathon focusing on the Internet of Things (IoT) and robotics for secondary school students will run from August 1 to 15, as part of the build-up to the summit.

“Our goal is to inspire and equip the next generation of technology leaders right from secondary school. The pre-summit hackathon will introduce students to exciting concepts like IoT and robotics, helping them see technology not just as consumers, but as creators.

“The programme isn’t limited to students. Teachers attending the summit will benefit from hands-on workshops introducing them to productivity tools designed to enhance teaching and learning. This, organizers say, will empower educators to integrate technology more effectively into their classrooms.

“Leaders and aspiring leaders will also have dedicated sessions where they will explore project management tools, techniques for community data aggregation, and strategies for leveraging technology to drive grassroots development.

“Businesses in the community are not left out. A special workshop will introduce entrepreneurs to business development tools, including expense tracking solutions using Google Workspace, among others, to improve efficiency and profitability,” Habeeb explained.

He added that the Offa Technology Community initiative is fast gaining recognition as a driver of digital transformation in Kwara South, as it is offering a collaborative platform for students, educators, leaders, and business owners to embrace technology for social and economic advancement.
