A support group within the All Progressives Congress, the Asiwaju Mandate Group, has pledged to deliver over one million votes for President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election.
The group said it has been mobilising residents across the 18 local government areas of Ondo State to achieve this target.
Addressing members of the group at a meeting in Akure, the state capital, on Wednesday, the Director-General of AMG, Mr Muyiwa Asagunla, said the group was determined to ensure Tinubu secures more than 90 per cent of the total votes cast in the state.
Asagunla said, “AMG was formed primarily to attract notable politicians in Ondo State—even those in other parties—to join our movement. Many of them are now ready to come on board.
“Secondly, when you benefit from a system, the best you can do is to invite others to benefit too. AMG, with the support of the Honourable Minister of Interior, Mr Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, is working to ensure the people of Ondo State benefit massively from the Federal Government, which is doing well.
“In terms of employment, I have details of how many people from the state have been employed in the Fire Service, Immigration, and NSCDC.
“Our structure is solid. AMG was inaugurated on March 8, 2004, with just 26 members.
“Today, we have over 9,000 members across Ondo State. With about two million registered voters in the state, we are confident of delivering over one million votes for President Tinubu in 2027.”
Also speaking, another leader of the group and Ondo State representative on the board of the Niger Delta Development Commission, Mr Otito Atikase, reiterated the group’s commitment to ensuring Tinubu’s victory in the state.
“Our target is to exceed our previous achievements. We aim to secure close to 90 per cent of the votes in Ondo State. Achieving this will require hard work, planning, and the right strategy.
“You will soon begin to see the results of our mobilisation efforts across the state,” Atikase said.
He also praised Tinubu’s performance, especially in the South-West and Ondo State, citing improvements in infrastructure and citizens’ welfare.
“For instance, you’ll agree that civil servants are no longer going on strike. The states now have adequate funds, and salaries are being paid regularly. That is tangible progress.
“Look at the Lagos-Calabar highway project—its economic significance is enormous. The dualisation of the Ore-Ondo Road, which has claimed many lives over the years, is now ongoing. Development is happening across the board,” he added.
