Ogbeni Seun Ogunniyi Graces MAMII Technical Workshop to Tackle Maternal Mortality in Kwara

In a strong show of support for improved maternal and child healthcare, Chairman of the House Committee on Health, Ogbeni Seun Ogunniyi, joined key stakeholders in Kwara State on Friday, August 1, 2025, for the closing ceremony of a four-day technical workshop and official launch of the Maternal and Neonatal Mortality Reduction Innovation and Initiative (MAMII) in Kwara State covering the two selected local government areas, Moro and Ilorin East.

The high point of the MAMII initiation ceremony is the presentation of MAMII report and roadmap on crashing maternal mortality in the state by the National Coordinator of MAMII, Dr Dayo Adeyanyu, to the Commissioner of Health alongside the Permanent Secretary of Ministry of Health, Dr. Taoheed Ayodeji and Chairman House Committee on Health & Nutrition, Ogbeni Seun Ogunniyi.

The Commissioner of Health, Dr. Amina El-Imam inaugurated the Maami-led Accountability Mechanism Initiative Task Force Committee that will deliver on the mandates towards realization of the desired goals of crashing maternal mortality in the state. Stakeholders and participants at the event lauds the commitment of Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq led administration for prioritizing the total elimination of maternal death in the state and in the country by extension.

Stakeholders present at the event include representative of National Health Insurance Authority, (NHIA); CMDs/ Head of Health Institutions in Kwara State; Executive Chairman of Ilorin East Local Government, Mallam Lukman Agbelere, state cabinet members and top government officials, the spouse of Moro Local Government Council Chairperson, delegation of WHO, UNICEF, and representative of other partners.
