Ogbeni Seun Ogunniyi Adato Reassures Constituents on Security, Urges Vigilance
The lawmaker representing Ojomu-Balogun Constituency of Offa at the Kwara State House of Assembly, Ogbeni Seun Ogunniyi has reassured his constituents of ongoing proactive steps to curb the rising security threats in parts of the state.
Ogunniyi, in a statement on Thursday, urged residents of Offa and surrounding communities to remain calm but vigilant.
According to him, traditional rulers, community leaders, the Offa Descendants’ Union, and the local government administration are already working closely with state authorities and security agencies to ensure the situation is brought under control.
He disclosed that there have been ongoing concerted and proactive measures at curtailing the security challenges reported in some part of the state.
He said their safety remains a top priority for both the state government and security agencies.
He appealed to citizens to desist from spreading unverified information on social media that could fuel panic. Instead, he encouraged residents to share credible intelligence with the appropriate security formations to help strengthen operations.
“We may be confronted with challenges, but they are not insurmountable,” Ogunniyi said.
He also sympathized with families and communities that have lost loved ones in recent attacks.
The lawmaker commended Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for rallying security agencies in the ongoing offensive against criminal gangs operating from forests in Ifelodun Local Government and other affected areas.
He also lauded the Nigerian Armed Forces and sister agencies for their recent aerial bombardment and ground campaigns that neutralized several bandits.
“There is no need for panic. Our government is on top of the matter, and the safety of our people is guaranteed. However, citizens must play their part by keeping watch and reporting suspicious activities in their neighbourhoods,” he partly said.
He assured constituents that engagements and reviews of strategies are ongoing behind the scenes and that collective vigilance will be key to restoring peace across the state.
