The Gombe State Coordinator of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Chinwe Nwachuku, has encouraged corps members to remain patriotic and uphold the values of unity and service as they begin their one-year national assignment across the state.
She gave the advice on Tuesday during the closing ceremony of the 2025 Batch ‘B’ Stream 2 Orientation Course held at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp in Amada, Akko Local Government Area.
Declaring the three-week orientation exercise closed, Nwachuku reminded the corps members that their service year was a chance to contribute positively to their host communities.
She said, “You must be patriots. Demonstrate love and loyalty to our dear country wherever you find yourselves. The NYSC scheme is built on unity, discipline, and selfless service—values every corps member must uphold.”
The coordinator also urged participants to take advantage of the Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) programme and continue post-camp training to enhance self-reliance.
She commended camp officials, collaborating agencies, and security personnel for ensuring a smooth and successful orientation exercise.
The event featured a valedictory parade and platoon presentations showcasing corps members’ creativity, teamwork, and discipline.
The NYSC, established under General Yakubu Gowon’s administration after the civil war, aims to promote national unity, reconciliation, and rebuilding.
