2-Months After, FEDPOFFA HOD Masscom, Dr. Bankole Appreciates God for Escaping Unknown Hoodlums’ Attack
The Head of Department of Mass Communication at the Federal Polytechnic Offa, Dr. Bankole T.O is full of thanks and appreciation to God for saving his life divinely from unknown hoodlums who attacked him on 6th December 2024, along Ojoku-Okeso road.
Sharing his experience of the incident with Salient Reporters, Dr. Bankole said he was on his way to Ilorin along Ojoku road at about 16:45hours shortly after Ojoku village, he observed that two men on a motorcycle were trailing him.
According to him” I was on my way to Ilorin via Ojoku bypass, I noticed two guys were speeding up to catch up with me despite the cloud of dust on the road behind my car. The headlights of their motorcycle were on and the man at the back on the motorcycle was wielding a cudgel and pointing fingers at me as if asking me to stop.
Initially, I thought they were complaining about the dust on the road due to ongoing construction works, but when I tried to slow down, they ran pass me, turned back, parked and were running towards me with cudgels and machetes”
He said he was only lucky to quickly pull over, managed to open the car and ran into the bush for his dear life.
Speaking further, Dr. Bankole said he heard the men shouting at him to stop as they threatened to shoot if he fails to stop. He said though, he was dead scared and tired, but it was God’s grace that made him to escape the attack.
According to him, “the hoodlums turned back behind me after about 3 minutes, and after about half an hour, when I got back to my car, I discovered it was ransacked but nothing was stolen. I was also lucky to secure the help of a team of the construction workers who later came around to pull out my car from the slopy deep it had slide into. It was after that the construction workers advised me to report the incident to the Police, I reported the incident at the nearby Police Station in Ojoku and a team of Police men was sent to the scene of the incident. I was then taken to the General Hospital in Ojoku to receive treatment.”
Asked to explain how he escaped, he said he returned all the Glory to Almighty God for the grace to be alive.
“ It is two months today and I use this medium to thank Almighty God for saving my life. It was a very terrible experience. The Police visited the scene, took pictures of my car. Everything was documented, I was given treatment and after that, the Police obtained my statement, and later asked me to go. I give all thanks to God,” he added”
