FEDPOFFA Building Tech Dept. Inducts 39 Graduands Into Nigerian Institute of Building

Maintain the ethics, morality of the Profession-  Rector Admonishes Inductees

The Department of Building Technology, the Federal Polytechnic Offa has inducted 39 of its 2023/2024 graduands into the Technologist Cadre of Nigerian Institute of Building (NIOB).

The induction ceremony was held on Thursday 20 February 2025 at the Polytechnic Permanent Site.

In his goodwill will message, the Rector, Engr. Dr. Kadiri Kamoru Oluwatoyin FNSE represented by the Deputy Rector Administration, Dr. Salmon Ishaiq Rasheed commended the Department of Building Technology for making it a requirement for students to be inducted into the professional body before leaving the school.

The Rector admonished the inductees to maintain the ethics and morality of the profession and be good ambassadors of the Federal Polytechnic Offa.

Also speaking, the Deputy Rector Academics, Dr. Mrs M.B Aliyu represented by the Director, Internal Quality Assurance, Dr. Isiaka Olasunkanmi Azeez encouraged the inductees to have curiosity for learning and always be updated on any development in their profession. She charged them to set goals and build a good networking channel to achieve the goals.

“Stay focused, seeks collaborations, upgrade on skills that are relevant to your profession and abide by all the rules and regulations guiding your professional body,” she stated.

Corroborating the Deputy Rector, the Registrar, Mr. Gabriel Soko who was represented by Deputy Registrar Academic Staff Human Resources Unit, Mrs. K.A Aiyeleso beseeched the inductees to take what they have been taught in school into practice and seek more knowledge to advance in their career.

On his part, the Director of Academic Planning, Dr. Augustine Arowosegbe lauded the Department for entrenching the induction initiative. He commended the institute for extending the opportunity to the Building Technology Department and congratulated the inductees for achieving the first step of becoming professional builders.

While the Dean, School of Environmental Technology, Bldr. J.O Alabi acknowledged the Rector for always supporting the School to progress. He celebrated the inductees and charged them to look outward and tap the opportunities in the building profession.

In his remark, the National President, Nigerian Institute of Building, Bldr. (Sir) Alderton Ewa Ewa represented by Bldr. Timothy Dosunmu congratulated the Department of Building Technology on the induction of new graduands.

While administering the induction oath, he urged the inductees to embrace the challenges of the future, prioritise sustainability and contribute to the creation of a built environment that is environmentally responsible and socially inclusive.

According to him, “The NIOB is proud to partner with the Department of Building Technology, Federal Polytechnic Offa in nurturing the next generation of building professionals. We commend the Department for its commitment to academic excellence and its dedication to producing graduates who are well-equipped to contribute meaningfully to the construction industry. We wish the graduates every success in their future endeavours.”

Giving a keynote address, the guest lecturer and Chairman, Osun State Nigerian Institute of Building, Bldr. S.T Ayegbokiki said builders are production managers who manage the materials, manpower, machine, and manager.

He noted that the inductees who are technologists need to read drawings with effective communication skills in order to excel in the profession.

Earlier in his welcome address, the Head of Department, Bldr. Suleiman Funsho Aliyu appreciated the Rector for his excellent leadership and tremendous support extended to Building Technology Department, he therefore solicits more support to further strengthen the capacity and performance of the department.

He congratulated the inductees for their commitment and dedication and wished them success in their future endeavours.

“It is with utmost joy to address this gathering today Thursday 20th February 2025 on the occasion of our graduate’s induction into the Technologist cadre of the Nigerian Institute of Building, (NIOB) which is third of its kind. My heartfelt congratulation goes to all the inductees on your professional achievement and pray to Almighty Allah to elevate you more in all your endeavours,” he stated.

Giving a vote of thanks, the Chairman, Nigerian Institute of Building, Kwara State chapter, Bldr. Folaranmi Kazeem lauded the National Body of the institute and the management of the Federal Polytechnic Offa for making the induction ceremony a success. He applauded the Dean, School of Environmental and Head of Department of Building for their relentless efforts to make sure the induction program is achievable. He equally thanked the principal officers and other management team for gracing the induction ceremony with their presence.
