19 Senators Barred from Landing at Taraba Airport

Senator David Jimkuta (APC), representing Taraba South Senatorial District, has alleged that 19 senators were denied permission to land at Kashimbilla Airport in Taraba State.

Speaking at his Senatorial Empowerment Programme in Wukari, where he distributed various items to his constituents, Jimkuta expressed disappointment over the incident. He explained that the Senate had designated the senators to accompany him and witness the empowerment event. However, he was later informed that the airport had been temporarily closed, despite complying with all necessary flight procedures.

Jimkuta, who also serves as Chairman of the Senate Committee on Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Area Councils, emphasized that the visit aimed to assess the state’s needs and explore possible support initiatives. He lamented that the unexpected closure of the airport had prevented the delegation from attending.

During the programme, the senator urged beneficiaries to make good use of the empowerment items rather than sell them. He also pledged logistical support to security agencies to enhance safety in the district.

Chief David Kente, chairman of the event, praised Jimkuta for his generosity, describing the initiative as unprecedented in the district’s history.

According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), the distributed items included cars, motorcycles, tricycles, sewing machines, deep freezers, and vulcanizing machines, among others.
