Another Project, Urban and Regional Planning Department Completed Under Engr. Dr. Kadiri Kamoru
Rector lauds FG for intervention
In a resolute effort towards building a world-class Polytechnic, and ensuring that massive development of modern infrastructure is completed on time and within stipulated budget, true to their words, the leadership of DWA Construction Company Limited (Project Contractor) and Ramshef Global Concept Limited (Project consultant), on Wednesday May 21, 2025, officially handed over the single-storey classrooms and office accommodation for the Department of Urban and Regional Planning (URP) to the management of the Federal Polytechnic Offa.
Located strategically from the directions of both Quantity surveying and the Department of Architectural Technology, the project which commenced on Monday, April 15, 2024 was delivered on Wednesday, May 21, 2025
Speaking at the main campus where the building is sited, FEDPOFFA Rector, Engr. Dr. Kadiri Kamoru Oluwatoyin, FNSE, represented by his deputy Rector (Academics) Dr. Mrs. Mulikat Bola Aliyu. commended the collaborative efforts of the contractor, consultancy firms, stakeholders and all the contributors to the building project. She thanked the Chairman of the Project committee, architects, engineers, craftsmen, site workers who also played vital roles in the timely completion of the edifice, saying the projects were executed in line with the contractual agreements from design to execution. “Well done and kudos to DWA and Ramshef Global Concept for keeping to specified timelines, your works are advertising themselves.”
After the brief session, the Contractor and the Consultancy firm led the Management team on an extensive tour of the facilities, their descriptions helped participants visualise some of the designed elements that culminated in the successful completion, signalling the readiness of the structure for teaching, learning and administrative functions. Receiving the keys of the building on behalf of the Management, Dr. Mulikat Aliyu flanked by the Registrar, Mr. G.O. Soko and other key figures from the Polytechnic’s leadership, described the facility as one which marks a new dawn for all staff and students of the Urban and Regional Department, led by the HOD, Tpl. Agbolade Olatutu.
In their separate remarks, Project consultant, Ramshef Global Concept Limited, Arc. S B. Oladimeji said the construction of the building began 12 months ago under the FG 2024 Capital Appropriation. “Today marks a significant milestone in the completion of office accommodation and classroom for the Department of Urban and Regional planning executed under 2024 Capital appropriation. As the consultant for this project, I am honoured to stand before you and formally hand over the building to the management of this great institution. Over the course of 12 months, our team has worked tirelessly to bring this imagination to reality. From conceptualization to completion, we have strived to create a structure that not only meets but exceeds your expectations.”
On his part, Engr. Segun Olaoye, Project Manager, DWA construction whose outfit supervised the construction, said the new edifice boasts of two spacious classrooms with sitting capacities of about one hundred and fifty (150) students, along with nine (9) self-contained offices with restrooms designated for the HoD and the lecturers. Additionally, the other section will host the computer laboratory and two studios designed to meet the practical needs of the students. Other features include Administrative office, Janitors closet, two (2) store rooms and waiting areas for students. The structure, according to Engr. Segun Olaoye is more than concrete and steel – it is a monument to education, a cradle of innovation and a promise to future generations. “As the Project Manager for DWA Construction, I consider it both an honour and a responsibility to have led this project from foundation to its final polish. Every brick laid, every beam aligned and every detail executed was done with a vision to create a learning environment that inspires, endures and elevates”
The handing over ceremony also featured brief speeches and expressions of gratitude from the Director of Academic Planning who also doubles as the Chairman, Project Committee, Qs. Dr. A.A Arowosegbe; Dean School of Engr. Technology, Bldr. J.O. Alabi; Ag. Director of Works and Services, Engr. Lateef Bello; and the HOD of Urban and Regional Planning (URP), Tpl. Agbolade Olatutu.
In the company of the Deputy Rector were the Registrar and Secretary to the Governing Council, Mr. G.O. Soko; Polytechnic Librarian, Dr. Babalola Stephen; Ag. Director, PP&PM, Tpl. Abdullahi Ishola Giwa; and staff from Physical Planning and Public Relations Unit.
Others are the Structural Engineer (Ramshef Global Concept), Prof. A.M. Ayanshola; HODs of Architecture, Arc. Bello Musbau; Estate management, Mr. Chijioke Chieze; and Surveying/ Geo-informatics, Q.s. Habeeb Adegoke represented by Surv. Olawale Anuoluwapo
