The Department of Film & Multimedia Studies at Lens Polytechnic Offa, Kwara State, is set to host its highly anticipated Induction into Performing Arts on 16th July 2025. The event will be held at the Lens University Auditorium and will mark a significant moment in the department and celebrating the power of performance as a cultural tool.
This year’s induction promises to be an entertaining and engaging event, including live performances, cultural dances, and stage plays. The program is designed to showcase the creativity of the students while emphasizing the role of performing arts in preserving African traditions. It also serves as a platform for students to express themselves and build their confidence.
A major attraction of the event is the appearance of Chief Peter Fatomilola, a renowned Nigerian actor and cultural icon, who will be attending as the special guest. Fatomilola, known for his roles in Yoruba theatre and Nollywood films, is expected to deliver an inspiring message to the students and share insights from his decades of experience in the performing arts industry.
The induction ceremony is more than a ceremony; it is a cultural and educational experience that blends tradition with modern creative expression. Through performances and artistic showcases, the event aims to bring about unity, identity, and pride among the students, while strengthening their academic journey in film and multimedia studies.
Participants and guests are expected to gather at the Lens Polytechnic Main Campus, which will serve as the official meeting point before moving to the venue. With strong support from the department and the presence of cultural legends, the induction is expected to leave a lasting impact on students and guests alike.
