Lens Poly Offa Elects New Students’ Union Executives

President-elect, James Erife Appreciates Management, Staff, Students For Support

The students of Lens Polytechnic Offa Kwara State have elected new Students’ Union Executives to paddle the affairs of the Union for the session.

The election held on Thursday, 23rd of May 2024 at the Polytechnic Permanent Site favored James Erife, an HND ll student of Mass Communication Department as the President-elect unopposed.

While announcing the results, the Proprietor, Dr. Azeez Yisa FCA congratulated the newly elected executives and urged them to use the position to promote the good image of the Polytechnic.

The Proprietor charged the President-elect and his executives to emulate the immediate past regime and have a tangible developmental project as a legacy in the Polytechnic.

According to him, ” Congratulations to all the elected executives, we know that you are capable, don’t disappoint the management and use the opportunity to transform the school.”

Also speaking, the Dean of Students’ Affairs, Mrs. Mujeedat Bammeke Oladipo urged the executives to work in unity to achieve their target aims and objectives. She advised the elected officials not to jump protocol whenever there is a need to channel their demands. She added that the Polytechnic management is always ready to cater for the wellbeing of the students.

On his part, the Director of Strategic Planning, Mr. Fatai Azeez charged the President-elect to embrace the idea of division of labour and separation for power as it constitutes a pertinent factor to a successful administration.

Corroborating the DSP, the Registrar, Mr. Hammed Sarafa Olalekan admonished the newly elected executives not to see the position as an opportunity to siphon money. He added that the position of the SUG is a call to service.

While the Chairman of Electoral Committee, Mr. Isaac congratulated the executives for their victory, he tasked them to relate with humility, respect, and perseverance with all the lecturers and the students.

Reacting on behalf of the executives, the President-elect, James Erife appreciated the management of the Polytechnic for putting the trust in the executives to serve and also dedicated the victory to all the students of the Polytechnic, adding that the elected executives will not disappoint the institution.

“On behalf of the elected students’ union executives, I thank the management of the Polytechnic for entrusting us with the leadership position and I appreciate the entire students of Lens Polytechnic Offa for their votes and support. This is a call to serve and by God’s grace, we will not disappoint you,” he said.
