Earlier today, August 12, 2025, the Department of Marketing at the Federal Polytechnic Offa organised a 2-day workshop at the 450 Capacity Hall, Permanent Site of the institution.
The event, themed “Next-Gen Marketing: Unlocking Digital Potentials with Smart Tools and Strategies,” focused on providing students with foundational knowledge on digital marketing.
In his opening remarks, the Polytechnic Rector, Engr. Dr. Kadiri Kamoru Oluwatoyin, lauded the Department of Marketing and commended both the lecturers and students for their efforts in making the event a reality.
He stated, “Marketing used to be one of the departments with the largest student population in the ’90s. With this workshop, it can grow even stronger.”
“I encourage the staff of the Marketing Department to make this workshop a regular activity to help students better understand the core of the course,” he added.
The HOD of Marketing, Mr. Suleiman Wisdom O., in his opening address, appreciated the planning committee and his colleagues for their support. He further urged the students to pay close attention throughout the programme.
The facilitator, Mr. Abdulazeez Abdulquadri O., Director of Abazol Digital Hub, Lagos, enlightened the students on the fundamentals of digital marketing and how to use it to improve their skills.
He explained the use of social media tools to promote products and achieve marketing objectives, emphasizing the benefits of adopting digital marketing.
“As a marketer, know the kind of content you share with your audience because there are different types of content,” he advised.
He encouraged students to embrace the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and stressed the importance of using it ethically.
“AI is here to stay. Learn how to use it to enhance your job performance,” he said.
Mr. Abdulquadri concluded his session by highlighting the digital marketing process and the consumer journey, including need recognition, information search, evaluation of alternatives, and purchase decision.
At the end of the event, Mr. Abdulquadri granted an interview where he spoke about expectations for Day 2 and reaffirmed his commitment to student development.
Some notable staff present at the workshop included Dr. Taiwo A.O., Dean of the School of Business and Administrative Studies; Dr. K.O. Arowomole, Dean of Student Affairs; Mr. Enyi F.O., Chairman of the Marketing Committee, among others.
