Yoruba Wikipedia Fan Club Offa Sets To Document Ijakadi Festival 2025 On Wikipedia
We are ready to make Offa cultural legacy to be visible to the world – Prince Salako
The Yoruba Wikipedia Fan Club Offa is set to document the activities of Ijakadi Offa Festival 2025 on the Wikipedia page.
This was disclosed by the founder of Yoruba Wikipedia Fan Club Offa, Prince Salako Lukman Olamilekan.
The Offa born prince Salako noted that the wikipedia fan club has already commenced the cultural documentation project, Digitizing Yoruba Heritage: Ijakadi Festival 2025 from December 1 2025 which will run through December 31 2025. He added that the project represents a critical milestone in the ongoing effort of Yoruba Wikipedia to preserve, digitize, and globalize Yoruba cultural identity through accessible online platforms.
According to him, “As the convener, project lead, and founder of the Yoruba Wikipedia Fan Club Offa, I reaffirm the central message that has guided our work from the beginning: collaboration is power. No single individual, association, or institution can safeguard an entire culture alone. But when we join forces, our collective strength becomes a cultural shield that ensures our stories, traditions, and heritage are not only remembered but protected and amplified for global audiences.”
“Our recently concluded training programme, Digitizing Yoruba Heritage: One Edit at a Time, held on 29 November 2025 at Hengee Resort, Offa, demonstrated the extraordinary impact of community-driven collaboration. Participants were trained on practical Wikipedia editing, proper application of Yoruba linguistic signs and symbols, and the strategic importance of using digital tools to preserve our identity.”
“The energy and dedication displayed reaffirmed that Yoruba Wikipedia is becoming a trusted home for our heritage—a place where knowledge lives permanently,” he said.
“The Ijakadi Festival 2025 documentary project is the next step, and it is intentionally close and achievable, not distant or out of reach. It is a project rooted in community ownership, designed to be carried out by the very people who live the culture we seek to preserve. Throughout the month of December, we will be recording, documenting, and archiving the full scope of Ijakadi Festival activities for global access through Wikimedia Commons. This will ensure that Offa’s cultural legacy becomes visible to the world and permanently secured in a global knowledge ecosystem.”
He therefore extended his appreciation to the collaborators whose steadfast support continues to drive the mission forward.
” To Ègbé Akọmolèdè Yoruba ẹkùn Ọfà and Oyun, Yoruba Wikimedians User Group, Rotaract Club of Offa Metropolitan, Offa Youth Impact Initiative, and numerous youth and community development groups who consistently show what united effort can achieve. Your commitment proves that cultural preservation flourishes where collaboration thrives.”
“To achieve the highest-quality documentation of Ijakadi Festival 2025, we are calling for additional sponsors, volunteers, collaborators, cultural custodians, educators, and youth-focused organizations to join us immediately. This project belongs to all of us, and its success will reflect the strength of our shared vision.”
