ACSPN Kwara Hosts Landmark Workshop on Data, AI and Solutions Journalism
The Kwara State branch of the Association of Communication Scholars and Professionals of Nigeria (ACSPN) on Friday, 26 September 2026, successfully hosted a high-impact capacity-building workshop themed “From Data to Solutions: Data, AI and the New Toolkit for Journalists.”
The training, facilitated by renowned media scholar Dr Rasheed Adebiyi, equipped journalists and communication professionals with practical skills on how to harness data and emerging technologies to discover, investigate and tell compelling solutions-oriented stories.
The event drew an impressive gathering of academics and media stakeholders from across the country. In attendance were the National President of ACSPN, Professor Rotimi Olatunji; the Vice President (North Central), Professor A. L. Azeez; the Kwara State Chairman of ACSPN, Professor R. M. Adisa; and the Dean of the Faculty of Communication and Information Sciences, Professor Saudat S. Abdulbaqi, among other participants.
The workshop forms part of ACSPN Kwara’s ongoing series of capacity-building programmes aimed at strengthening the professional competence of journalists in the digital age. Participants explored innovative ways of turning raw data into actionable insights and impactful public-interest storytelling.
Organisers described the session as a timely intervention that positions Nigerian journalists to better engage with the opportunities and challenges presented by artificial intelligence and data-driven reporting.
